After finishing up our lessons for the day we took a short cab ride over to Parque Lage, a former private home that was converted to a public park. We spent some time snapping photos of the courtyard (with a great view of Christ the Redeemer in the background), then walked the trails surrounding the base of Corcovado. After exploring some of the grottoes and taking about a million pictures, we headed back to Copacabana for a refreshing caipirinha while we watched the moon rise. Saúde!

Spending a lovely afternoon at Parque Lage is one of the best options of sighseeing in Rio de Janeiro. There you can have an extreme contact with nature and art at the same time. The place has a very interesting, beautiful and classic buildind where an arts school is located. Our Portuguese students could walk, see and admire the whole place. Taking pictures inside the building and enjoying the living nature outside, the best way to spend a lovely afternoon in the city.
