Visiting the Santa Marta favela in Rio de Janeiro offers a unique and immersive experience filled with culture and history. Famous for its vibrant murals and resilient community, it also holds a special place in pop culture—it’s where Michael Jackson filmed the iconic music video for “They Don’t Care About Us.” On a guided tour, you’ll not only explore this legendary site but also engage with the welcoming locals. It’s a perfect opportunity to practice your Portuguese with your schoolmates while discovering the people’s stories and the neighborhood’s transformation. Plus, the breathtaking views of Rio make it an experience you won’t forget.
