Yesterday we visited the Forte do Leme. It was a beautiful day and perfect for our hike to the top. The Forte do Leme is located in an active military compound and was originally built in the 18th Century to warn the local habitants of enemy vessels approaching. It is a relatively easy walk and you really feel at peace as you climb the winding path through a charming forested area. There were lots of friendly Micos which are small monkeys native to Brazil hanging around and we got to practice our Portuguese as we climbed. Once at the top there are beautiful views of Copacabana beach, Corcovado and the Sugarloaf. It was an awesome afternoon and thanks again for another great RioLive experience.
What about admiring Forte do Leme? Our Portuguese students were really excited about doing this. They started this RioLIVE! with a nice hike until the top of Forte do Leme, a good moment to get in contact to the local nature and its features.
