Gestern Nachmittag nach dem Unterricht sind wir mit unserem Lehrer Pablo nach Urca gefahren, einer Halbinsel inmitten der Stadt. Zuerst waren wir am Praia Vermelha, einer der schönsten Strände in Rio. Dort haben wir erzählt bekommen, warum dieser Strand so heisst. Hierzu gibt es verschiedene Erzählungen, am wahrscheinlichsten ist aber, dass der Name daher kommt, dass der Sand bei Sonnenuntergang rot erscheint. Anschliessend sind wir zum Praia da Urca gegangen, der Strand auf der anderen Seite der Halbinsel, der auch sehr sehenswert war. Dort haben wir in einer Bar eiskaltes Bier getrunken und bei schönstem Wetter Eis gegessen. Ein Traum!
The neighborhood of
Urca is the safest, most beautiful neighborhood in
Rio the Janeiro. We left Copacabana and went there to have a fun afternoon with a lot of Portuguese. Since it was very hot, we started our
RioLIVE! Activity with a few beers at Urca and stayed at Praia Vermelha to see a bit of its history and cool down a bit. The heat was intense. Our students practiced their Portuguese talking to an ice cream vendor that told many histories about Urca.
After the beach, we walked through Urca and our students took the opportunity to notice the difference or architecture between Urca and Copacabana. Since our student Maria lives in Urca, she spoke a bit of how it is to live there. We had a few more beers in Urca while appreciating the natural views and practicing our Portuguese. Bar Urca, a very traditional place to meet up with friends, have beers and have fun.
