Feira de São Cristóvão or Centro Luiz Gonzaga de Tradições Nordestinas (Luiz Gonzaga Northeastern Traditions Center) is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the North Zone (Zona Norte). It was created in honor of Luiz Gonzaga, the King of Baiao.
The fair promotes Northeastern culture and its local products. The Northeast of Brazil is a big part of the country, home to various customs and traditions. The fair takes the amazing culture and aura from this region and brings it to life for Cariocas and visitors to experience and enjoy.
All around the fair we will see traditional Northeastern fashion/clothing, dishes/food, fruits, gifts, liquors, handmade products and music. We will see people dancing forró, a very popular and traditional musical genre/dance from this part of Brazil. If you want you can even try dancing too!!
If you are hungry and would like to taste the exotic dishes, you can have a typical Northeastern dinner with us, which can be another great opportunity to practice your Portuguese.
You’re going to be mesmerized by the amount of things there is to do 😉
