For RioLIVE! on Friday we ate at the Belmonte in Lapa and then had drinks while watching a traditional Samba circle. After that we walked through the streets of Lapa and attended a Caipirinha class. Everyone got to make their own Caipirinhas with their own choice of fruits and cachaca. We listened to music, chatted with friends, and drank caipirinhas all night. It was a blast!
Knowing a little bit about the carioca nightlife at Lapa
, a very bohemian place in Rio de Janeiro, was our RioLIVE!
at this time. Besides visiting Lapa, our Portuguese students could prepare delicious caipirinhas in a funny class with Rei do Limão Bar
. It was a day to know one of the main meeting points of Lapa, starting at Escadaria Selarón
, where the students had the challenge to find tiles with their country’s picture. This challenge was great for the students interaction, because they helped each other looking for the tiles.
After the stairway, we walked until Arcos da Lapa
, we talked about the history of the place. As we were feeling hungry, we went to a local restaurant to have dinner and to get ready for the night that we were about to have. Before going to the caipirinhas class we went to the bar called Vaca Atolada
to see our student Stan perform a great show with his cuíca (typical music instrument to play samba in Rio).
After all this stroll around Lapa, our Portuguese students were ready to prepare delicious caipirinhas. Our students had a lot fun inventing new recipes for caipirinhas and also mixing different fruits. Our activity put together Portuguese, fun and caipirinhas at the same night.
