During my stay at Rio &  Learn I participated in the RioLIVE! activities. This activities are really interesting, since you see many new places and together with your fellow students you will have lots of fun. Next to the more serious Portuguese lessons, you still practice and experience the language right on the nice spots of the immense city. The climb to the top of the mountain in the park the catacumba was heavy, but do-able and it gave us a very beautifull view over the lake and parts of the city. Cycling around the lake gave us the opportunity to see the peacefull lake, right in the middle of the city life, from many points and it was just great to cycle in this big city.

Last Wednesday we enjoyed our beautiful sunny afternoon in Rio de Janeiro discovering Lagoa. We gathered at Rio & Learn and went to the Parque da Catacumba, which is where our adventure started. We did a small hike to get to the view point at the top of the park. The view is incredible! From there it’s possible to to see the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana, Christ the Redeemer, the Dois Irmãos mountain, Pedra da Gávea and the Botanical Garden. During the hike we spoke a lot of Portuguese and talked about the history of the park, since the place was a favela years ago.
After the park we continued discovering Lagoa, but this time we rented bikes!!! We faced the challenge of riding around the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, which is 7 km around. Our students really liked the views, and said the place is perfect to practice sports. Since the Lagoa will be one of the places hosting the Olympic games, our students took the opportunity to ask many questions about the preparation of the city to host the games. To wrap up our RioLIVE! Activity with golden tape, we sat at a kiosk to drink some coconut water while relaxing. Since it was the day after an important holiday, we spoke about the history of Tiradentes, and it was a great way to learn a bit about the history of Brazil.
Come discover the natural beauties the Lagoa has to offer taking part in out RioLIVE! Activities! You will speak Portuguese at the same time as you have fun!
