The RioLIVE! group explored Forte de Copacabana where we experienced an interesting place frozen in time. We saw the armoury, various canons, chambers and a panoramic point which overlooked Copacabana. The highlight was climbing rocks at Arpoador and watching the sun set amongst a crowd of people. It really was a beautiful sight with Ipanema beach and its striking skyline of buildings and mountains in the background. The RioLIVE! group continued the night with dinner at Leme, where we enjoyed good Middle Eastern food and great company. This experience not only provided a fantastic taste of Rio de Janeiro but also offered a lighthearted and enjoyable setting to immerse ourselves in Portuguese.

The culture in Rio is very diverse. Embracing Carioca culture is naturally easy. Watching the sunset at Arpoador is one of the most common things in this culture. Our students had the chance to do this with RioLIVE! and the experience was just amazing! It was especially nice that a group of other students came along later to join us and make this immersion in the Carioca culture even better!
