We spent a wonderful afternoon hiking up to the top of Morro da Urca. We saw tiny monkeys and breathtaking views of Baía de Guanabara. I’ll never forget the precise moment when I finally got to see the famous statue of Cristo Redentor. After spending some time enjoying the views from the top of Morro da Urca, we rode the teleférico to the top of Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain). We could not resist the delicious smell of the Nutty Bavarian stand, so, of course we all had to buy a bag of mixed nuts and enjoy them as we took in the views. Thanks so much to Diogo for being such a great, informative guide and for keeping us entertained!

Our group of students joining RioLIVE! were excited for their day exploring Sugarloaf Mountain. Their adventure began with a hike up Morro da Urca, where they practiced their Portuguese, asking their teacher questions about Rio and chatting about their journey. Reaching the top, they marveled at the stunning views and continued using Portuguese as they shared their experiences and took in the breathtaking scenery. The hike and the summit offered not only spectacular sights but also a perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture.
