La visite de la favela de Dona Marta a été une réelle découverte pour moi. C´était la première fois que je pénétrais à l´intérieur d´une favela. Et l´expérience s´est révélée très interessante. Accompagnés d´un guide (qui habite dans la favela) nous avons pu explorer tous les recoins de cette petite ville dans la ville. Un vrai labyrinte rempli d´histoire et de curiosités. L´avant et l´après pacification, les mesures mises en place par le gouvernement, le mode de vie des habitants, etc… Nous avons pu également profité d´une vue sensationnelle sur les principaux lieux cariocas et nous avons même pris la pose avec Mickael Jackson!

Do you know Michael Jackson’s video ‘They don’t really care about us’? It was filmed in two Brazilian locations, and one of them was favela Dona Marta in Rio de Janeiro. 8 of our students enjoyed the visit at this favela with a local guide, Vitor that just spoke Portuguese to them ;). We had students from US, Canada, China, Russia , France and Argentina. We took the plano inclinado that takes you from the bottom of Morro Dona Marta to the top, and it has 5 stations. We went until the top of morro Dona Marta and we walk down as Vitor explained how Dona Marta life is and explained history of this special place. We saw amazing Rio views and visited interesting places like Michael Jackson memorial and Praça Cantão social project painted houses.
