In this RioLIVE! Activity we went on a little food tour in the historic downtown Rio area where we tried traditional desserts and enjoyed the antique architecture of two very interesting places. The first stop was the unmistakable Confeitaria Colombo, one of the most famous cafés in the city since its foundation in 1894 by Portuguese immigrants. There the students drank different types of coffee from cappuccino to the Brazilian cafezinho, as well as brigadeiro, the renowned Brazilian dessert.
His second stop was Casa Cavé, the oldest confectionary in Rio de Janeiro, founded by a French immigrant in 1860. The place is influenced by countries like France, Spain, and Portugal in both its culinary and architecture. Then we had a couple of beers and tried pastel de natal, a traditional Portuguese dessert to finish up our food tour in the historical downtown Rio.
