What does galera mean in Portuguese?

Galera means Folks/People in Portuguese. We can use the word Galera to refer to a group of people in different contexts. This expression is very important because Brazilians, especially cariocas, use it a lot! Take a look at the video and see how we use it in our day to day life:

Introduce someone

The word Galera can be used to introduce someone to other people.

Galera in Portuguese example: Galera, esse é o Igor, o meu amigo do trabalho.

Cássio: Fala aí, galera! Esse aqui é o Igor, o meu amigo do trabalho. Cássio: How are y’doing, people! This is Igor, my friend from work.
Igor: E aí, galera! Igor: What’s up everybody!
Diogo: E aí, cara! Tudo bom? Diogo: Hey, man! How are you?
