Today’s RioLIVE! visit to Palacio de Catete was another great chance to practice the days lesson, while navigating through Rio and learning a piece of its history. The eclectic mix of themes, eras, and countries the mansions architecture and decorations have been gathered from provided interesting insight into the world of 19th century Brasilian aristocracy. After we were done “hanging” out in the palace, we strolled around the garden and enjoyed some of the peace and quiet that can still be found right in the middle of Rio.

In an afternoon at the Catete Palace and Park, our Portuguese students absorb not only the language but the essence of Rio. Local history enriches the language experience, becoming a cultural journey. In Catete, language transcends words, blending with human warmth and history. Mastering Portuguese goes beyond grammar; it’s understanding the carioca soul.
