Ieri abbiamo visitato la comunita` di Santa Marta (piu` comunemente conosciuta come “favela”). Questa comunita´ si trova nel quartiere di Botafogo che abbiamo raggiunto prendendo tutti insieme il metro. Questa comunita´e´la prima ad essere stata pacificata. Questo vuol dire che non cé´ piu´traffico di droga ma e´sorvegliata dalla polizia locale. Infatti quando siamo arrivati c´era un clima molto cordiale e allegro. La comunita´si estende su una collina ripida e si puo´percorrere sai a piedi che con un ascensore. Quello che ci ha immeditamente colpito sono stati i colori meravigliosi delle case: verde, giallo, rosa, blue….un arcobaleno di case colorate!!! Salendo su per la comunita´ abbiamo approfittato della vista stupenda per scattare delle foto ricordo. Al lato dela comunita´ si puo´ammirare la statua del Cristo Redentore…Immaginate che spettacolo!!! L´ultima tappa e´stata una terrazza diventata famosa per il video di Michael Jackson “They don´t care about us”. Questa piccola terrazza accoglie un murales coloratissimo con la foto dell´icona pop e una statua di bronzo che ci ha permesso di cimentarci in pose strane e divertenti. La discesa per le vie piccole e tanto caratteristiche l´abbiamo fatta a piedi potendo cosi´ osservare la gente che si raccoglieva in casa per l` ora di cena o per un ultimo taglio di capelli dal Barbiere di turno mentre tutti i bambini dela zona rientravano a casa dalla scuola… E per finire la giornata, un “pit stop” al bar per uma birra in compagnia!
Favela Dona Marta or Favela Santa Marta is one of the most popular ‘favelas’ in Rio de Janeiro, located in Botafogo, this place is one of the most popular places in the city. Visiting the favela, you can feel a real contact with the Brazilian people and a new carioca lifestyle. The favela is also well – known because in 1996 the popstar Michael Jackson filmed the video clip for the song they don’t care about us inside the favela.
We visited the place with the students from Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Ghana, Switzerland, Sapin, Poland and Australia who enjoyed the beutiful view at the top of the favela. There they could took some pictures of the houses, having conversations with the local people discovering the differences between the favela and the glamorous neighbohoods in the south zone of Rio de janeiro. Besides watching the beutiful view in the low part, they could also take the cable car and had an enhanced view from the whole place. In the end they finished the visit at Favela Santa Marta having some beers and having a nice talk in Portuguese.
