Mudar in Portuguese

The verb mudar can be used as a reflexive or non reflexive verb. As a non reflexive verb it means to change something of place, something in life, etc.


Eu mudei os móveis de lugar.
I changed the places of the furniture.

Ela mudou o corte de cabelo. Ficou ótimo!
She changed her haircut. It looks great!

Nós precisamos mudar tudo aqui.
We need to change everything here.

O que você mudaria na sua aparência?
What would you change in your appearence?

Quando meus filhos eram pequenos eles sempre mudavam de brinquedos.
When my kids were little they always changed toys.

Vocês podem mudar meu telefone cadastrado?
Can you change my registered phone number?

As a reflexive verb, the verb mudar-se mean to move from a house or apartment to another.


Eu me mudei para o Rio de Janeiro há 2 anos.
I moved to Rio de Janeiro 2 years ago.

Depois do casamento, vamos nos mudar.
After the wedding, we are going to move.

Se você pudesse, para qual cidade você se mudaria?
If you could, what city would you move to?

Já é a terceira vez que vocês se mudam esse ano!
It’s the third time you move this year!

Ele se mudou para mais perto do trabalho.
He moved to live closer to work.
