Nature and History

My experience at the palace and park Catete was a nice experience. The museum was very interesting and entrance was free. I learned much about Brazilian and history and had many opportunities to practice my Portuguese with locals and fellow students, outside in the park it was nice to talk with others under the shade of the many trees.

Nature and History. That was our RioLIVE! at this time, our Portuguese students from Rio & Learn had the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful places in Rio de Janeiro, Parque do Catete. A very nice place to have contact with nature and also to study about the Brazilian History. The place is divided in two parts, first we have Palácio do Catete, where it used to be the official residence of the presidents in Brazil until 1960, and also behind the building we have Parque do Catete, a large natural area with plants, trees and a small lake where people can relax, walk, read a book or even have a short cut to go to Praia do Flamengo.
Our students from Switzerland, Germany, United States and England could have the experience of visiting such a great place. They started their visit walking through the museum where they could learn more about the republican history, since its foundation, the Military Dictatorship and today. As they were getting into the rooms, they were really amazed with the rich details of the architecture of the building and also the original objects inside the place, most of them used by the politicians at that time.
In the end, the students decided, to take a nice walk through the park and see the rest of the place, we finished our RioLIVE! having a nice and funny conversation about Rio and the different, nice and interesting places that the city has to visit. And you? What are you waiting for to learn Portuguese and have fun with our RioLIVE! Activities?!
