Orange bikes in Rio de Janeiro
Bike Rio is a project created by Itaú bank, a private Brazilian Bank, in 2011. The idea is to promote health habits while helping the environment. There are around 260 bike stations and over 2600 bikes in the South Zone, North Zone, West Zone and in the center of Rio.
The bikes can be rented 24/7, but once you rent a bike, you can use it for 60 minutes. After returning the bike to the station, you must wait 15 minutes before taking another bike. Anyone can use it, and it’s really simple.
In the App Store or Play Store you can download the app Bike Itaú and install it. After doing that, you need to sign up, so select your plan. It’s really cheap! You can pay 10 reais for the whole month or 5 reais for a day. You can sign up using a CPF, if you have one, or your Passport.
Once you are properly signed up and ready to rent your first bike, go to a bike station with the app in you phone and select the station in the map. Click to unlock bike and generate a code to unlock it. Type the code at the station and wait to the light to turn green. Voilà!
Get your bike and enjoy a nice ride in the Marvelous City. By the way, there is a bike station right in front to Rio & Learn.
We’ll be waiting to ride with you.
See you guys in our next Dica.
