In general, for a foreigner, the plural form of the words ending in ão, is learned by listening to people speaking. This happens because we don’t have specific rules to form the plural in ÃO. So the only way to know how to use the plural of these words, is learning the words separately and having a good knowledge of vocabulary.

The plural form of the words that end in ão, can have three different endings: -ãos, -ães or -ões. Let’s see some of these words with different endings:
