Portuguese in Cristo

Dag en nacht waakt Christus de Verlosser over Rio de Janeiro, de stad waar ik na een dag al verliefd op ben geworden. Een 30 meter hoog Christusbeeld als icoon voor het meest sexy land ter wereld… het heeft wel wat.Natuurlijk kunnen we een bezoekje aan dit wereldberoemde kunstwerk niet overslaan en dus zitten we vanmiddag in het treintje dat naar de top van de berg Corcovado tuft. Het eerste dat daar opvalt is voor mij niet eens het beeld, dat je zo ongeveer vanuit de hele stad kan zien, maar het waanzinnige uitzicht!! De Cidade Maravilhosa is ook vanaf deze hoogte adembenemend mooi en we kunnen er geen genoeg van krijgen.Toch kun je hier Christus ook niet echt over het hoofd zien en ik begrijp waarom het verkozen is tot een van de zeven nieuwe wereldwonderen, het is ontzettend indrukwekkend. Na een heleboel foto,s en veel gelach gaan we nog even wat drinken. Een biertje met nieuwe vrienden en een prachtig uitzicht op een zonovergoten maandag in december… wij vermaken ons wel!

Our RioLIVE! at this time was a visit in one of the seven wonders of the world, Christ Redeemer (Cristo Redentor). Located at the top of the Corcovado Mountain, the statue of the Christ Reddemer blesses the Wonderful City. We left the school and took a bus to there. When we left Copacabana, the weather wasn’t so good, but when we got there, the sun showed up, what made the students more excited with the visit. Our students from Switzerland, Holland and Australia were very willing to meet the place. It was an amazing RioLIVE! and we could enjoy the most beautiful landscapes in Rio de Janeiro.

We took a lot of pictures and practiced our Portuguese with a group of northeastern people who were also visiting the place. We finished our RioLIVE! with some nice beers in a great shape. We are sure that our Portuguese students loved this experience and also one more RioLIVE!
