Portuguese at Pão de Açúcar

Portuguese students at Pão de Açúcar

Our students approves the view at Pão de Açúcar.

Portuguese at Pão de Açúcar was our RioLIVE! at this time. Pão de Açúcar (The Sugar Loaf) is one of the most popular and visited places in Rio de Janeiro. Everyday different people from all over the country and the world meet this important landmark. Our students from Germany took this trip to visit this important place.

We started our visit at Praia Vermelha that is located in front of the trolley station, we could have a nice walk and see some parts of this place that is very calm, beautiful and also shelters two federal universities and some military institutions. After taking the trolley and going up, we made our first stop at Morro da Urca, a very traditional place where people do hiking and organize parties for new year’s eve and casual celebrations. Our Portuguese students were really amazed with the view that they could have since it was a hot and sunny day here in Rio de Janeiro. After visiting Morro da Urca, we took the trolley one more time and we went to the Sugar Loaf Mountain, a higher place but with an even more beautiful view of the city, up there the students could have an overall view of the whole south part and see places such as: Praia do Flamengo, Enseada de Botafogo and Copacabana’s beach.

In the end we finished our visit having some caipirinhas and a nice talk (in Portuguese at Pão de Açúcar) about the beautiful places in the city and which one they want to visit next. Our students had a lot of fun and talked so much in Portuguese at Pão de Açúcar, what are you waiting for to join in our RioLIVE! Activities, having fun and learn Portuguese at the same time?
