Ready to learn Portuguese? Today we are going to do some exercises with Brazilian Portuguese prepositions. 

Prepositions of place in Portuguese

Do you remember what prepositions of place are? Let’s take a quick look to jog your memory.

Prepositions of place in Portuguese: perto de, na frente de, dentro de, em cima de, longe de, atrás de, fora de, embaixo de, ao lado de, em volta de, entre.

Now we are going to see some pictures and you must complete the sentences according to what is seen using (of course) the Portuguese prepositions:

    The coffee is on top of the table.

2. O telefone está __________ café.
The phone is next to the coffee.

3. O adoçante está __________ o telefone e o açúcar.
The sweetener is between the phone and the sugar.

4. O teclado está __________ café.
The keyboard is behind the coffee.

Verbs with prepositions

In Portuguese we have some verbs that need a preposition. If you use these verbs without a preposition, it’s wrong. So let’s practice them so you can sound like a local!

    I am going to the market.

2. Ela chega ___ oito horas.
She arrives at eight o’clock.

3. Nós moramos ___ São Paulo.

We live in São Paulo.

4. Ele está interessado ___ aprender português.
He is interested in learning Portuguese.

5. Eles vão ___ praia ___ fim de semana.
They go to the beach on the weekend.

6. Eu preciso falar ___ você.
I need to talk to you.

7. Ela sonha ___ viajar pelo mundo.
She dreams of traveling around the world.

8. Nós estamos ___ casa hoje.
We are at home today.

9. Ele gosta ___ jogar futebol.
He likes to play soccer.

10. Ela quer aprender ___ cozinhar.

C'est vraiment fantastique...RioAndLearn. Les cours de portugais...ça vaut vraiment la peine. Les cours ont lieu du lundi au vendredi, (de 9h à 13h) et en après midi, ce sont des activités libres en groupe. (Soccer de plage, volleyball , excursions, visites des lieux touristiques, etc) Vendredi soir, on est allé à Lapa, un quartier nocturne de Rio. C'est quelque chose à voir! Des rues bondées de monde, des orchestres, des discothèques...Allô les décibels! L'apprentissage du portugais se fait en immersion, aussi bien en salle de classe que dans les activités extérieures organisées par Rio&Learn.
