Poder for Abilities, Permission and Possibilities

Sometimes, you might observe some variations of verbs being used in ways you haven’t though before. And that is the case with poder + ir. Usually, in simple present, we would have the following discussion:

Can you go to the RioLIVE! with me?

Sim, posso ir.
Yes, I can go.

However, most people will answer in a weird way:

Sim, eu vou poder ir.
Yes, I will be able to go.

You can also use this structure for negative sentences. Take a look at the example below:

Você vai ao shopping comigo amanhã?
Will you go to the mall with me tomorrow?

Não vou poder ir, não!
I won’t be able to go!

C'est vraiment fantastique...RioAndLearn. Les cours de portugais...ça vaut vraiment la peine. Les cours ont lieu du lundi au vendredi, (de 9h à 13h) et en après midi, ce sont des activités libres en groupe. (Soccer de plage, volleyball , excursions, visites des lieux touristiques, etc) Vendredi soir, on est allé à Lapa, un quartier nocturne de Rio. C'est quelque chose à voir! Des rues bondées de monde, des orchestres, des discothèques...Allô les décibels! L'apprentissage du portugais se fait en immersion, aussi bien en salle de classe que dans les activités extérieures organisées par Rio&Learn.
