Ieri, durante l´attivita´ di RioLIVE!, abbiamo visitato il Parco di Catete, che ospita l´ultima residenza presidenziale del Paese quando Rio era la capitale del Brasile. Abbiamo cominciato con un tour del parco, abbellito da statue mitologiche molto raffinate, che si ripropongono poi anche all´interno del palazzo a testimonianza della passione del tempo per la mitologia. Durante il giro, abbiamo parlato di alcuni aspetti della cultura brasiliana e abbiamo fatto pratica di portoghese, ammirando la natura rigogliosa del parco.
All´interno, abbiamo visitato le sontuose sale del palazzo e ripercorso la storia del Brasile, in particolare di Getulio Vargas, uno dei piu´ importanti presidenti brasiliani che qui si suicido´. E´stato un pomeriggio molto piacevole e istruttivo: un bel tuffo nella storia e bellezza di questo Paese!

Yesterday we had a great afternoon at Museu da República at Catete. We started our RioLIVE! with a relaxing walk around Parque do Catete. We searched for the inspiration of nature to talk about the history of Brazil and then, practice Portuguese. Located among buildings, this park keeps a little bit of the Rio’s nature and it becomes a different place for those who look for a peaceful place.
After that, we went to the old Palácio do Catete, now Museu da República. The place was the last presidential house while Rio was the Brazilian capital, having Getúlio Vargas as its only guest, one of the most important Brazilian presidents who committed suicide there. Besides talking a lot about the history of Brazil, we had the opportunity to talk about the history of each students’ country and analyze if there was something in common among them. At last, it was a day that gathered a peaceful place with Brazilian history.
