Tarde Selvagem em Santa Teresa

Santa Teresa is a beautiful hilltop district in Rio. We kicked off our visit at the Bar do Mineiro sharing a feijoada feast, some refreshing Brazilian beers, and great company. For those of you new to feijoada, basically, it’s a stew of beans with beef and pork, accompanied by white rice and farofa (fried manioc flour). I’ve probably only had feijoada 6 to 8 times in my life; nonetheless, Mineiro’s definitely holds the current first place on my list. After lunch, we enjoyed a long walk around the neighborhood. The whole area has a very welcoming village-like, artsy vibe…a mix of chic, groovy, charming, and quirky with steep, winding streets, lined with boutique restaurants and bars, street art, music, and studios. I definitely plan on returning, probably for dinner and the nightlife.

Apesar do tempo frio e nublado, nós tivemos uma tarde selvagem em Santa Teresa. Isso porque nossos estudantes de português estavam muito animados para visitar esse bairro com a RioLIVE! e eles também estavam falando, brincando muito (em português) e ao mesmo tempo cheios de energia para explorar. Nós começamos nossa atividade subindo com o bondinho e curtindo as vistas da Lapa e do centro da cidade, nossa segunda parada foi no Bar do Mineiro parar curtir e comer uma deliciosa já que estava na hora do almoço. Então, depois de andar pelas ruas de Santa Teresa, nós terminamos nossa visita na tradicional Escadaria Selarón com ótimas fotos e conversas.
