RioLIVE! Activities in Rio de Janeiro

RioLIVE! are activities in Rio de Janeiro that we offer each evening to discover the city, while you practice your Portuguese following our Livelearning method. With RioLIVE! Activities, you discover something new about Brazil, or the Cidade Maravilhosa while you visit the best places in the city, practise your samba steps, dance forró, do beach activities or watch a football game. Every day you will have a RioLIVE! Activity in our calendar for two or three hours.

Most of all, our Portuguese teachers accompany you throughout and also try to encourage everyone to communicate in Portuguese. Through the RioLIVE! Activities you can go sightseeing and experience the culture of the country while you interact in Portuguese.

We prepared our RioLIVE! activity calendar in a special way so that you can enjoy the most when you visit Rio. Every day you can find a different activity in the city and our Portuguese teachers will be your guides. With the RioLIVE! Activities, our students learn a lot about Brazilian culture and discover things that a common tourist doesn’t know, and they practice their Portuguese too. So if you are not a student yet, join us in one RioLIVE! and you will learn some easy Portuguese words for free.

There are RioLIVE! Activities for all kinds of tastes and they vary according to the day of the week. And the best part is that you don’t need to pay Rio & Learn any extra fee to join the activities on week days. Let us show you more about the fun things to do in Rio de Janeiro!

Mondays in Rio de Janeiro

The best way to start  our activity calendar and enjoy Rio de Janeiro is by visiting a famous tourist attraction. That’s why on Mondays our RioLIVE! Activities will take you to places such as Christ the Redeemer or the beautiful Sugar Loaf Mountain. Of course that we will also show you tourist attractions that the Cariocas also enjoy. Visiting the Botanical Garden and taking a relaxing walk in it is also a great way to start the week. And talking about relaxing walks, Botafogo beach will show you astonishing views of Rio while you walk along it in our tour. So put those on your list of activities do to in Rio.

For when your mondays at RioLIVE! are over...

After a leisurely day of sightseeing, we suggest you take a different approach to your evening activities. Once your RioLIVE! activity concludes, gather with your fellow Portuguese students for a delightful happy hour at Mureta da Urca. Simply purchase a beer from a nearby bar, head to the Mureta, and savor the breathtaking view. This provides a wonderful opportunity to socialize, practice Portuguese, and momentarily step away from the tourist experience in Rio!

Tuesdays in Rio de Janeiro

Tuesdays are perfect for those who like sports or moving their body in general and the best part is that we will do fun things that Brazilians do in Rio de Janeiro! Have you tried playing soccer at Copacabana beach? How about having a stand up paddle surf class at Copacabana? You will. Another great thing about Tuesdays is that we also have dancing RioLIVE! Activities. You will have samba or forró classes in Portuguese. Um, dois, três…Um, dois, três…

For when your tuesdays at RioLIVE! are over...

Since you’re already in the South Zone, why not visit the largest and most significant planetarium in South America? The Gávea Planetarium is an excellent choice for those interested in not only observing galaxies, stars, and nebulas but also exploring exhibitions and attending talks. And here’s the exciting part – while visits are typically paid, on Tuesdays, you can enjoy free admission to this incredible venue!

Wednesdays in Rio de Janeiro

Do you like history and culture? How about Brazilian history and Brazilian Culture? History is also part of the fun things to do in Rio de Janeiro and on Wednesdays there are historical RioLIVE! Activities in which you can learn a lot about not only Rio de Janeiro but also Brazil. Visit the former presidents’ house at Palácio do Catete or take a walking tour with us through Downtown Rio and finish the afternoon having a cold beer in one of the most famous streets downtown. You can also try a typical capoeira class and live the Brazilian culture of our ancestors or visit Porto Maravilha and reflect on the future.

If you find yourself with some free time, we highly recommend exploring AquaRio, the largest aquarium in South America! This remarkable attraction offers a captivating journey into the fascinating world of marine life, providing a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a diverse array of native animals from Brazil. Thursdays in Rio de Janeiro

Embarking on our Thursdays RioLIVE! Fridays in Rio de Janeiro

It’s not possible to talk about activities to do in Rio on Fridays without talking about party. It’s one of the most fun things to do in Rio de Janeiro! We’ll take you to the best places to party in Rio and you are going to enjoy the Carioca nightlife having a Caipirinha at Lapa, dancing Samba at Pedra do Sal or Forró at Feira de São Cristóvão. Night is young so don’t you dare sleeping on a Friday night in Rio de Janeiro!

It’s Friday, and our RioLIVE! adventure is set for the night! How about seizing the afternoon to unwind and recharge? Select one of Rio de Janeiro’s diverse beaches and bask in the sun! While Copacabana is a classic choice, Rio offers a plethora of other stunning beaches to explore. This is a golden opportunity to relax and soak up some sun before you dive into a night of festivities! Whichever beach you choose, the afternoon provides a chance to unwind and embrace the laid-back Rio de Janeiro lifestyle. So, grab your sunscreen, find a cozy spot on the sands, and take a moment to rejuvenate before embarking on an unforgettable Friday night adventure!

Weekends in Rio de Janeiro

Our Rio de Janeiro calendar also brings you the RioLIVE! Weekends. They are special activities we have on weekends and you can join as many of them as you wish. These activities to do in Rio are not free and you can find all the information and costs of them in the Rio de Janeiro events calendar. You can participate on them as many times as you wish, even if you are not a student. Come by yourself or invite a friend to spend the day exploring Tijuca Forest, visit the imperial city of Petrópolis or watch a football match at Maracanã Stadium and fill up your weekend with fun things to do in Rio de Janeiro.

For when you are not having a RioLIVE! activity...

Exploring the Ipanema Hippie Fair is a fantastic weekend activity in Rio de Janeiro. This bustling market is an ideal spot to peruse through a diverse array of artisanal products, offering a unique shopping experience. It’s not just a market; it’s a cultural celebration where you can discover handmade crafts, vibrant artworks, and perhaps find the perfect gifts for your loved ones. To add an extra layer of tranquility to your weekend, consider taking a quick visit to Paquetá Island. Nestled away from the urban hustle, Paquetá Island is a small oasis where cars are not allowed, creating a serene and laid-back atmosphere. Students must be at the meeting point at the exact time marked by Rio & Learn. Otherwise without them the visit will not start. Rio & Learn not properly organize RioLIVE! activities, and only accompanies her students. Therefore the associated costs are not included and will have to pay part since the activities will be managed by Rio & Learn. Rio & Learn is not responsible for any accident or material or immaterial damage arising conducting any activities that take place outside the school premises.
