Do you know Shakira’s iconic track La La La (Brazil 2014)? If you love Latin music and Brazilian culture, Rio is about to give you a huge reason to celebrate. Shakira is returning to Rio de Janeiro on May 2, 2026 for Shakira | Todo Mundo no Rio, a free megashow on Copacabana Beach. More than just another tour date, this concert places her right at the heart of one of Rio’s biggest live-music moments and shows once again how strong her connection with Brazil has become over the years. With a massive crowd expected on the Copacabana waterfront, this show is set to be one of Rio’s biggest music moments of 2026.
Shakira and Brazil: A Connection Full of Rhythm
Shakira’s connection to Brazil goes beyond her global hits like Hips Don’t Lie and Waka Waka. Her unique ability to fuse Latin rhythms with worldwide influences has earned her a special place in Brazilian hearts. Every time she takes the stage, her performance exudes the Brazilian spirit of joy and energy.
This isn’t her first time performing in Brazil. Her past shows left fans mesmerized, and she’s often spoken about her admiration for the energy and passion of Brazilian audiences.
The Venue: Copacabana Beach and the Spirit of Todo Mundo no Rio
Shakira’s concert is not built around a traditional stadium venue. Instead, it becomes part of Todo Mundo no Rio, the city project that turns Copacabana Beach into the stage for giant free international shows. Rio’s tourism board confirmed Shakira as the headline act for the 2026 edition, with the performance set for May 2, 2026, on the sands of Copacabana. More than just a place for the concert, Copacabana helps shape the whole atmosphere of the night, turning the show into one of those very Rio experiences that feel bigger than music alone.

And then there is Copacabana Beach itself, which could hardly be a more iconic setting. A concert there feels completely different from a night inside an arena, because the whole backdrop is pure Rio: the beach, the sea, the skyline, and that electric atmosphere the city creates so naturally. It also helps that Copacabana has already become the home of these massive pop events. Lady Gaga performed here in 2025, which makes Shakira’s concert feel like the next big chapter in that story.
And there is another detail that makes this even more special for our students: Rio & Learn is also in Copacabana. That means you can study Portuguese with us right in the same neighborhood where this huge Shakira concert will take place!

How to Get There:
Because the show will bring a huge crowd to Copacabana, the best plan is to think about your route in advance and expect the area to be very busy before and after the concert. Public transport will likely be the easiest option, and arriving early will give you more time to find a good spot and settle in before the show begins.
Metro
Best and most reliable option! If you are staying in the South Zone, but not in Copacabana, or in Centro, the metro will take you to Shakira’s arm easily! Just go to Cardeal Arcoverde station, and it’ll leave you right next to the stage. You can also count on Siqueira Campos station, which is the one next to our school, and walk a little bit by the beach before the show. Oh, don’t forget to check the metro prices before you go!
Ride Apps
Traffic will be closed from 6 PM in Copacabana, so we don’t recommend going by car, as there may also be restrictions for ride-hailing apps. The safest and most practical option is the metro.
Shakira and Brazil Through the Years
Shakira and Brazil go way back. This new Copacabana megashow is not some random stop on the calendar. Over the years, she has returned to Brazil again and again, and every visit has helped build an even stronger connection with Brazilian fans.
A recent example came in 2025, when Shakira returned to Brazil for major live performances. It was another sign that the country continues to be an important part of her story. And now, with a free concert in Copacabana in 2026, that bond feels bigger than ever.
But this love story with Brazil started long before that. Shakira had already stepped onto one of the country’s most iconic stages when she performed at Rock in Rio back in 2011. Later, she returned again during the El Dorado era, with major concerts in cities like São Paulo and Porto Alegre.
Taken together, these performances show that Brazil has long been more than just another stop on Shakira’s tour schedule. Her history with Brazilian audiences helps explain why this new Rio concert already feels so meaningful.
Shakira, Brazil, and Football: A Perfect Match
Shakira shares a unique bond with Brazilian football. Her 2014 World Cup anthem, La La La (Brazil 2014), featuring Brazilian artist Carlinhos Brown, celebrates the nation’s love for football and its vibrant culture. The song’s music video, showcasing Brazil’s passion for the sport, became a fan favorite.
Through this track, Shakira brought together Colombian and Brazilian cultures, proving that music and football transcend borders. Her love for Brazil is evident not only through her songs but also in her heartfelt connection with fans in this football-loving nation.
