I had a great time at the feijoada in Mangueira. The food was delicious and the music was incredible too. We spent the whole day there relaxing and dancing. I would love to go back, it was a really cool cultural experience.

Last Saturday we spent our afternoon speaking Portuguese at Mangueira. It was an afternoon filled with partying at the quadra da Mangueira, which is one of the most traditional carioca samba schools, and on the menu, we had the famous Feijoada, which is a typical and loved dish for most Brazilians. The rhythm, samba and culture. Our students were very excited with the possibility of seeing a samba school and talk a bit about the carioca carnival.
While we were speaking Portuguese at Mangueira, we learned a lot about the history of the place and saw many samba presentations that took place on the main stage. At the beginning the students were a bit shy, but nothing like a bit of cold beer to make them loosen up and try their first samba steps. On top of socializing with the Mangueirenses, our students could see the presentation of the Velha Guarda, and also the Mestre Sala e Porta Bandeira.
It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon speaking Portuguese, and we danced and had a lot of fun. For some students, this was the best RioLIVE! they ever had. We are glad we took many pictures to remember.
