Yesterday Chris, Raffa, Diogo and I went on a trip to Parque Lage in the Jardim Botanico section of Rio de Janeiro. I personally found the trip interesting and quite enjoyable. The park allows you to have a small escape to nature from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city. There are lots of tall trees and greenery, and the park has several unique features. For example, there is an aquarium embedded in a cavernous rock formation. You enter inside this cave and you can see various types of fish native to the area. There are many trails to explore, a nice restaurant and even a school of visual arts on the park grounds. We, the students, spent several hours exploring under Diogo’s excellent guidance. Two thumbs up for the trip!

There are always American students at Rio & Learn. But at this time we had a true team of USA at Parque Lage, since they were all from the same country and believe me, from the same city too (Washington DC), it was easy for them to get to know each other and explore together this amazing place in Rio. Besides the natural area and the gardens, Parque Lage has also an old and classic building that hosts an arts school (EAV Parque Lage) and a nice cafe.
Our Portuguese students spent some really good time having the views of Corcovado e Cristo Redentor, being inside of a natural area, having fun and speaking Portuguese!
