Our RioLIVE! group visited São Cristóvão on Friday to experience some Northern Brazilian culture with Carne de Sol, Cachaça tasting, dancing, live music, and karaoke to finish the evening. This market is a fun, laid back way to experience another part of Brazilian culture that not everyone gets to see while visiting Rio!

We are made of music, not sugar! This is a reference to the Brazilian saying não somos feitos de açúcar (we are not made of sugar) because cariocas don’t like to go out on rainy days. But our Portuguese students didn’t care about the weather and attended well to this RioLIVE! We visited Feira de São Cristóvão and enjoyed what the northeastern culture has to offer. Food, drinks, music, sweet, dancing etc. In the end we all had a lot fun singing (or at least trying haha…) at the karaoke making this experience even better! That’s why we are made of music, not sugar!
