Weekend filled with samba

Serata ‘na escola de samba’. Notte strepitosa nel cuore del carnevale Rio; un palco, cantanti e molti ballerini hanno animato la serata all’insegna della samba. É stato un sabato sera tipicamente carioca; appena entrati nella scuola era giá festa, si cantavano gli inni della scuola, in questo caso Salghero, si sambava e naturalmente si beveva caipirinha. I brasiliani sono molto socievoli e sempre allegri e non é mancata occasione di conoscere gente per praticare il portoghese e per sambare tutti insieme. Grazie a Rio & learn per questa meravigliosa opportunitá; un sabato sera da ripetere assolutamente.

Since in Rio, the pre-carnival vibes are upon us, our Portuguese students enjoyed a weekend filled with samba. Besides the blocos, that already spark up the city, we took saturday night to enjoy samba at quadra do Salgueiro, one of Rio´s most famous samba schools. Our students got to experience a bit of carnaval and it’s magic. As Salgueiro was giving it’s presentation, the students learned words such as comissão de frente, mestre sala e porta bandeira, passistas, baianas e velha guarda. The quadra do salgueiro was packed, and people were singing and dancing with excitement their samba enredo ópera dos malandros.

Our students practiced a lot of portuguese as they sang along with the samba school. They had a lot of fun practicing the words that are hard to pronouce. After a lot of samba and caipirinhas, Sunday finally arrived, but our party at salgueiro was far from over. We gathered in a circle and started dancing and singing as a group! It was a weekend filled with samba and loads of fun.
