Get ready for a night full of samba, Carnival, Brazilian culture and good vibes! In this RioLIVE! Activity, we are going to Baródromo, a special bar in Tijuca inspired by the magic of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival. Carnival is one of the most famous cultural expressions in Brazil, and especially in Rio de Janeiro. Every year, samba schools prepare amazing parades with music, costumes, colours, history and emotion. At Baródromo, you can feel a little bit of this atmosphere in a relaxed and fun way, while enjoying Brazilian food, drinks and music. The decoration of the place is full of references to samba schools, parades and Carnival culture. It is a perfect opportunity to take pictures, make videos and experience a very carioca night with your classmates and teacher.
Baródromo is not just a bar. It is a place where food, music and Carnival meet. The names of the dishes and drinks are inspired by great Carnivals and champion samba schools, so while we choose what to eat and drink, we will also learn a little bit about the history and creativity behind these names. This is a great chance to practice Portuguese in real situations. You can order food and drinks, ask questions, give opinions and talk about Brazilian culture naturally. You will also learn useful vocabulary connected to nightlife, samba, Carnival, restaurants and social life in Rio.
If there is a samba circle, we will try to stay close to the music and enjoy the energy of the place. And if possible, we will also take pictures and videos with Carnival costumes and the local decoration.
Because it brings together some of the most important symbols of Rio: samba, Carnival, music, joy, creativity and social life. It is a fun way to understand why Carnival is so important for cariocas and why samba is much more than just music. At Baródromo, you will have the opportunity to experience a different side of Rio nightlife. You will not only go to a bar: you will enter a place full of cultural references, colors and stories connected to one of the biggest parties in the world.
