Samba at Pedra do Sal

Enjoying some samba
Enjoying some samba

Pedra Do Sal is a place where the foreigners can discover  the first place where samba arrived in Rio de Janeiro, coming from Salvador Bahia many years ago, the place is perfect for those that love Brazilian rhythms, drinking some beers and dance for a while.  The streets and houses near represent the old Rio de Janeiro, some of the structures are still reformed for the government.

We visited “a Pedra Do Sal” with students from Colombia, Japan, Poland, England, Holland, Iceland, Venezuela, Italy and Switzerland. There they could enjoy “samba de raiz”, an expression used to define the old samba that used to be played in Rio and also Pedra do Sal.
