Formation for Near Future in Portuguese

In Portuguese, the immediate future tense (futuro imediato) is used to express actions or events that are going to happen very soon or in the near future. It is formed by using the verb “ir” (to go) in the present tense, followed by the infinitive form of the main verb.

Here is the basic structure of the immediate future tense in Portuguese:

Subject + ir (present tense) + infinitive verb

Although verb ir is always there, the infinitive verb can be any verb! It only depends on the objective of the phrase. Now check out how this structure would behave with each pronoun we got in Portuguese:

Note that the verb “ir” is conjugated according to the subject of the sentence, and the main verb remains in its infinitive form. The immediate future tense is often used when talking about plans, intentions, or actions that will take place in the immediate future.
